Luxury camping Le Mans

Le Mans is in Sarthe, in the heart of the Pays de la Loire area. You’ve probably heard of Le Mans because of the 24 hours of furious car-racing that take place here every year - so you may therefore be surprised to learn that on the other 364 days of the year it’s a great place for a relaxing holiday surrounded by the peace of the countryside! Come to our 5-star Les Castels campsite and enjoy all the benefits of a trip to the Sarthe countryside.

Numerous cultural events Numerous cultural events

The city itself stages all sorts of cultural events. And if you’re a motorsport fan and you’re there in June, you’ll be able to watch the world-famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race. It’s one of the world’s three most prestigious races (the other two being the Monaco Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500) and has taken place in Le Mans almost every year since 1923. An absolute must! Another unmissable cultural event is “La Nuit des Chimères”, an incredible light show that involves seven sites in the heart of the old town. Great entertainment for the entire family! Last but not least, don’t forget to visit the many châteaux nearby and soak up a bit of French history!

Sarthe is a rural area of France, offering a wide variety of local produce based primarily on pork and poultry. And the speciality known as “Les Rillettes du Mans” (a kind of pulled pork paté) has become a veritable institution! You really have to try it! The same can be said for “boudin blanc” (a fine-textured sausage made from white meat) - it is usually served with Reinette apples from Le Mans and is a truly delicious treat enjoyed by everyone, even those who didn’t think they would! More of a sweet tooth? Then don’t miss the fresh goats’ cheese served with honey or jam, and “le petit sarthois”, a dessert made with Reinette apples that are caramelised in butter and sugar before being flambéed with Calvados apple brandy!
